Custody Audit Trail
A chronological log of every verification, reseal, site addition, or authorised viewer change for existing backup holdings.
When an Audit Trail Is Needed
Partnerships, family trusts, and sole holders who already know where backups sit but cannot demonstrate custody continuity over time. Accountants, solicitors, and internal compliance reviewers often request dated evidence that someone verified holdings on a regular schedule.
What Each Entry Records
Date, verifier name, site code, action taken (opened and resealed, visual inspection only, added new duplicate, retired old site), and witness where applicable. Entries are numbered sequentially and cross-referenced to your location register.
Process
We review any existing notes — diary entries, emails, bank box visit receipts — and conduct at least one live verification to establish the current baseline. Retroactive entries are marked clearly when based on documentary evidence rather than direct observation.
Deliverable
A separate audit volume designed to append to your location register, with index tabs by year and site code.
Next Step
Bring your existing register or site list to a consultation. Standalone audit trails require a confirmed location index before work begins.
